Singapore, Nepal and Bahrain register opening day victories
Put on to bat first, Singapore posted 194-9 off 40 overs with top scores from Shekhar (52) and Rajagopal (56). In reply, Ahuja (4-32) and Abhiraj Singh (3-24) tightened the screws on the Malaysian batsmen to reduce them to just 141 all out in 35.2 overs.
In the other matches played on the same day, Nepal defeated Hong Kong by six wickets after a fine bowling display from N. Pandey (4-6) and S. Shrestha (3-22) reduced the opposition to just 88 all out in 35.4 overs. The hosts needed only 18.3 overs to reach its target.
In the final game, Bahrain registered a seven-wicket victory dismissing Kuwait for just 111 in 21.4 overs at Engineering Ground.
